Bringing you the spunkiest sounds since 1976!
Bobby Nichol's 1976 debut album, I've Got The Virus, was the first release on Spunky Monkey Records. I could write about this album for days, but the back cover says it all!
"His debut into the music scene will have you jumping for joy as you listen to each track. He began singing at the very young age of 23. After he found out his voice could do this, he went to Spunky Monkey Records, who had opened just days prior, and immediately got a record deal. This has nothing to do with the current financial state of Spunky Monkey Records."
As a result of internal scandals and disputes at the West Bradford Recording Company, Spunky Monkey Records were able to buy the rights to much of their back catalogue, consisting mostly of forgotten 1950s pop. To bring these songs back into the spotlight, Spunky Monkey Records released a greatest hits compilation of West Bradford's flagship band - Johnny Elbows And His Singing Minions. Unfortunately, they couldn't afford the rights to any of the real hits, and were left with an album consistently full of the worst songs ever recorded by the band.
